Who We Are

Orca Book Publishers is pleased to announce that we have acquired Polestar Calendars and will be bringing the Polestar line into the Orca pod. Orca has a long history with Polestar Calendars as we have been distributing the line in the US market for more than 25 years and now we’ll be adding the Canadian market as well.
Polestar began in the early 1980s when founder Julian Ross, then a university student, needed a better way to organize his time. Unimpressed with the standard business-oriented agendas available, he created the Original Student Calendar and, in the process, developed Polestar’s unique three-part time-management format, the cornerstone of all Polestar calendars. Polestar created the Polestar Family Calendar, first published in 1988, to help busy families organize and simplify. In 1999, Polestar added the Polestar Business Agenda for creative time-management in working life, followed by the Polestar Planner, a portable agenda for general use. Polestar has been supplying imprinted calendars to the university market and this will continue under Orca.
Polestar’s mission aligns with Orca’s: to create practical, purposeful books and products that serve real needs. Calendars are an important part of our business, and this acquisition ensures the Polestar line continues for its many loyal customers. Orca and Polestar together gives the brand a strong home, expanded reach and the support to keep these beloved calendars thriving.
